My crafty Mothers Day gift!

I found this idea on Pinterest and loved it!

I got a thick, could be waterproof fabric and black fabric paint. I used stencils for all the grand kids names and hand painted the tree. I AM NOT A PAINTER! But I just went with it and I think it turned out pretty cute and spent less then $20!

I love making cakes, especially wedding cakes but sometimes I want to venture out and sell other homemade desserts.. I really have racked my brain trying to come up with how this will work and think I came up with something..

I have spent the entire month trying to come up with new concepts to making money via my cake business.

I had this idea in mind for a bakery on wheels. I was trying to make it so my modern in home business could deliver bakery goods around the area, just like walking into a bakery and buying cupcakes or muffins. I think I finally have figured it out...

Every month I will post a calender with a couple of options every week as far as bakery goods and I will offer a free delivery option to my local area and then a small delivery fee to those a little further away. Being an in home bakery, I can't very well charge everyone a delivery fee since pick up is not an option.

This first week I am doing blueberry crumb muffins and Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing. Boxes are orders, Shirts are being made... Think I'm on to something!

Well that's what is going on in the world of Lemon Tulip Cakes. I'll let you know how it goes.

Things I MUST do!

Okay I'm not in any rush but here are some things that I am going to do in the near future.. I do not have an end of the year deadline but just sometime in my lifetime... 

1. Run a marathon

Okay probably a short marathon but think it would be something great to be involved in, definitely a marathon for a cause.. 

2. Visit Carlos Bakery in NJ

I almost made it on Next great baker... Well I made it round 2, so in my eyes, that's almost making it. I will meet Buddy and he will give me lots of little Italian pastries to eat... 

3. Win Chocolate Festival Cake Challenge 2012

I will let you know after this weekend :)

4. Teach a cake decorating class to kids

This probably wont happen for a very long time but it would be awesome to teach some young adults how to decorate a cake

5. Use Reusable shopping bags

I scratched this out because I did purchase the bags, I just need to remember to take them with me!

6. RECYCLE

I will buy my bins and do this and make my kids do it too.

7. Garden

I planted my garden, it is sprouting. Next it will be in the ground.. as long as that is successful, then I have a garden.

As for now that's all I have on my major to do list.. Besides open a bakery and cake shop.. One day :)

Fun kids craft!

I wanted to do something fun for my son's valentines day party at school other then the boring paper cards that everyone just goes home to throw in the trash.. I came across this fun idea from Pintrest and had to try it! Please do not think I am in anyway crafty by any means.. I am not.. at all..

So if I could do this and actually have them turn out like they are supposed to, I'm pretty sure anyone can :)

Here goes!

Preheat oven to 275. Pick through your crayon box for old or broken crayons.

Break them in small pieces- I was trying to crush mine with a glass but I think my crayons would've looked better had I just broken them with my hands. They don't have to be tiny.

I found this cheap heart shaped soap silicone  tray at Target in the dollar section, I was worried it was going to melt but thankfully it didn't. Put it on a cookie sheet, just in case yours does :) I had to bake mine for longer then it said but start out at 15 minutes and check. They are done with it is smooth like glass!

I let mine cool until morning and took them out and they are so cute!  Attached them to  different colored paper and wrote my message! I have to say... I'm pretty proud of myself, super mom!

2012 brings new healthy eating habits

     So i'm sure everyone makes that resolution for the new year but mine is not so much losing weight, just trying to do the healthy eating thing. Here's my strategy and hopefully writing it here for everyone to see will help me to stick to it at least for the next few weeks, then we will find some new ideas...

Ready for 2012!

I'm so amp'd for this 2012 wedding season! I am slowing down a bit to have some more family time but I have all my supplies ready and can't wait to start getting busy.

Besides running my own business and having an amazing husband and two kids, I started school this past fall... notice the lack of posts.. It's been 6 years since I have been out of school, its strange but feels awesome finally getting some kind of college accomplished.

I have been researching wedding planning businesses. I think after the excitement of cakes has worn off, if I don't become a paralegal (after completion of that college program obviously) this would be a new venture I would like to try.

This year I have so many exciting things I want to do! Right now I am cleaning house.. I guess I should say, cleaning OUT house. Out with the old, in with the new. I am a compulsive Ebayer. I buy, I sell.. I tell everyone how great Ebay is.. Anyway, In the past month I have made about $400 getting rid of things that have sat in the basement for years. I am trying to renovate areas of the house. I just want a new look.

Well now that you know what I have been up to and what I will be up to this year, I guess I'm done. I am going to start posting all my fun DIY projects I find to share. I have so not crafty, so if I can do them, so can you.

I'M SO BORED!

Yes I have two cakes this week but slow season.....  I'm so bored. I've been trying to think of all kinds of things to do to keep busy. Next week is yet another cupcake week to raise money for Journey4acure.org!

Last time was pretty successful so hopefully its as busy as last time. Spice cake with pumpkin filling and cream cheese icing and Lemon Cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing and white chocolate curls... YUM! Order early!

I have two cakes this week. One for a past client and one for a friend. They should be pretty cute so pictures are always exciting!

I ordered all my new wedding cake flyers and marketing stuff for next year, its so fun!! Their really cute and can't wait to be super busy with wedding tastings for 2012!!! Started a promotion yesterday for 20% off wedding cake orders for 2012!

Also a promotion for 20% ALL event cakes in December started yesterday. Order early (again!)
